Hi, I’m Jill Thomasson — a passionate reading specialist with over 20 years of experience helping learners become confident, capable readers and writers.
I hold a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy and have served as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and literacy instructional coach. I am currently becoming a certified EBLI (Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction) instructor — a research-backed, speech-to-print method grounded in the Science of Reading. I use EBLI to provide clear, effective reading instruction that supports students of all ages — from Kindergarteners to adults — including those with dyslexia or other learning challenges.
Whether your child is just beginning to read, needs support with comprehension and writing, or has struggled with reading for years, I’m here to help. I offer 1:1 and small group sessions, both online and in person, and I’m committed to making literacy accessible, engaging, and empowering for every learner.

There are many approaches to reading instruction, but not all are equally effective—especially for struggling readers.
Traditional methods like Orton-Gillingham start with teaching letter names, rules, and patterns before connecting them to sounds. While this can work for some, it often overwhelms learners and slows their progress.
I use EBLI (Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction)—a research-based method that flips this process. EBLI begins with speech sounds and then connects them to letters, making reading easier to understand and faster to master. This “speech-to-print” approach reduces confusion, minimizes cognitive overload, and leads to quicker, more lasting progress in both reading and writing.

EBLI is effective for all ages—from Kindergarten through adults—and can help anyone learning to read or improve their skills. It’s especially helpful for learners with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning challenges.
